HELLSCAPE is based on Rennie Cowan's horror novel "Hellscape." It is also based on her original feature film script "The Funhouse. The "Funhouse" was written only a year before the novel and it is now a feature length, psycho-horror drama. It was shot on Mini-DV color digital using many different types of enhancing lens, including a telephoto lens but mostly with Kenko's magnificent wide angle lens. The budget of the movie was a little under $15,000 (US Dollars) and it was professionally color-corrected on the industry-standard Da Vinci at Universal Studios. Some nostalgic locations are found in "Hellscape". The exteriors of Joel's house was shot at the famous Nightmare on Elm Street house in Los Angeles, the same house where Nancy found herself terrorized by Freddy. Other locations include both Riverside and Moreno Valley, California. "Hellscape" is a scary mind-twister all written, directed and executive produced by Rennie Cowan.
Some filming was done at St. Vincent de Paul, where Arnold Schwarzenegger battled evil in "End of Days" and Keanu Reeves visited the angel Gabriel in "Constantine". And some other filming was done at some other hellish places...
Kyle Clinton Cowan plays sixteen year old Joel Montgomery, a shy and good kid who has just summoned a new friend...a scary and cursed clown named Bee Boe. Soon, Joel finds himself traveling back and forth to hell, with only one rose in his hand.
The truth about Bee Boe will shock you...for he is a trickery of his own design, a cursed reality...but who's reality is it? Joel or Bee Boe? ..."Welcome to hell, Joel! Now meet your evil self..." Unravel the puzzle, for the curse can only be broken by dealing with an evil, alternate twin named Evil Joel (who goes on killing sprees in Joel's neighborhood). Will Joel defeat himself? Will the Hellscape curse be broken?
